How to Disable DNS on Any Device

Step-by-step instructions to revert to your provider or router default network settings (DHCP). Select your device below.

Platform Removal Guides

Android 9+

Turn off Private DNS

  1. 1Open your phone Settings.
  2. 2Go to Network & internet (on Samsung: Connections → More connection settings).
  3. 3Select Private DNS.
  4. 4Switch from "Private DNS provider hostname" to "Automatic" (recommended) or "Off".
  5. 5Tap Save. Your device will immediately revert to your mobile carrier or Wi-Fi DNS.

If sites do not update immediately, toggle Airplane mode on and off for 5 seconds to flush the DNS cache.

iPhone / iPad (iOS)

Remove configuration profile or reset Wi-Fi

  1. 1If you installed a profile: open Settings → General → VPN & Device Management.
  2. 2Under "DNS", tap the Bezmezhau Smart DNS profile and tap "Remove Profile" (enter your passcode to confirm).
  3. 3Alternatively, under the DNS section, toggle selection back to "Automatic".
  4. 4If you configured Wi-Fi manually: Settings → Wi-Fi → tap (i) next to your network → Configure DNS → select "Automatic" and Save.
  5. 5Restart Safari or toggle Airplane mode to flush the local cache.

Removing the profile immediately restores your default network DNS settings.

Windows 10 / 11

Revert to automatic DHCP and flush DNS cache

  1. 1Open Settings (Win + I) → Network & Internet.
  2. 2Select your active network connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and open its properties.
  3. 3Next to "DNS server assignment", click "Edit".
  4. 4Switch the dropdown from "Manual" back to "Automatic (DHCP)" and Save.
  5. 5If you disabled IPv6 earlier: press Win+R → type ncpa.cpl → Adapter Properties → re-check "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)".
  6. 6Flush the DNS cache: open Command Prompt (cmd) and run: ipconfig /flushdns.

After running ipconfig /flushdns, restart your web browser.

macOS

Remove custom DNS servers or mobileconfig profile

  1. 1Open System Settings → Network.
  2. 2Select your active connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and click "Details...".
  3. 3Click the "DNS" tab in the left sidebar.
  4. 4Select the Bezmezhau IP addresses and click the "-" (minus) button to remove them.
  5. 5If you installed a .mobileconfig: open System Settings → General → Device Management (Profiles) and remove the profile.
  6. 6Click OK → Apply. macOS will revert to using DHCP DNS from your router.

Completely close and reopen your browser to apply the change.

Router (Wi-Fi)

Revert to provider default DNS

  1. 1Open your web browser and go to your router admin panel (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1).
  2. 2Log in with your administrator credentials.
  3. 3Navigate to WAN, Internet, or DHCP/DNS settings.
  4. 4Switch DNS from Manual/Static to "Automatic from ISP (DHCP)", or clear the Primary and Secondary DNS fields.
  5. 5If DoT was configured in Keenetic / OpenWrt / MikroTik, delete the dns.bezmezhau.com rule.
  6. 6Save settings and reboot your router. Reconnect all devices to Wi-Fi.

Rebooting the router is required so all connected home devices renew their DHCP leases.

Smart TVs & Consoles

Automatic IP/DNS mode

  1. 1Open network settings on your TV (LG webOS, Samsung Tizen, Android TV) or console.
  2. 2Navigate to Network → Connection Status / Network Settings.
  3. 3Open IP / DNS settings and switch DNS from Manual to Automatic.
  4. 4Save and restart the TV or streaming application.

If DNS was configured on your router, reverting the router is all that is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting

Why are sites still opening as if DNS is active?

Browsers and operating systems cache DNS responses for several minutes. To see changes immediately, clear your browser cache, run ipconfig /flushdns (Windows), or toggle Airplane mode on mobile devices.

Are any files or traces left on my device?

No. Bezmezhau DNS does not install apps or background services. Once the profile is deleted or DNS is switched to Automatic, all requests go directly through your internet provider default DNS.

How can I verify that Bezmezhau DNS is completely disabled?

Use the DNS check widget at the top of this page. The status will show as "DNS not confirmed", verifying your return to standard DNS.
